1. 1. Originals of works submitted to the INCM, with the exception of those that are considered special projects or institutional partnerships, shall be assessed in accordance with the following criteria:
    1. i) A relevant contribution to culture;
    2. ii) In accordance with the INCM's editorial policy, which places an emphasis on the following:
      1. a) The publication of unpublished works, either written in Portuguese or translated into the language, with cultural relevance in various areas of knowledge and that meet the following requirements: originality, accuracy and coherence of the content;
      2. b) The re-publication of works in any genre of artistic creation or area of scientific knowledge that are considered fundamental to cultural heritage.
  2. 2. No theses or dissertations shall be accepted without the amendments required before they can be published, to ensure the expansion of their readership, with the aim of greater diffusion of knowledge.
  3. 3. Any works that meet criteria (i) "A relevant contribution to culture", shall be subject to the opinion of the INCM's Publishing Committee.
    1. 3.1. If indicated by the Board of Directors of the INCM, works that meet criteria ii) may also be subject to the opinion of the Publishing Committee.
  4. 4. If these criteria are met, an opinion on the analysed project shall be issued and communicated to the party making the proposal. The INCM is responsible for making a decision on its publication.
  5. 5. Texts must be provided in three copies, in size 12 Times New Roman font, on A4 paper, with a line spacing of 1.5 lines, without erasures. They must contain, where applicable, indices and bibliographies presented in accordance with current technical standards. The orthography that best suits the nature of the work shall be adopted for publication
  6. 6. Any originals that go against the Declaration of Human Rights shall be rejected, along with those that promote violence and different types of prejudices.
  7. 7. The originals must be sent to the Publications Unit, located in the Imprensa Nacional building - Rua da Escola Politécnica. They should contain the reference "Original - Proposal for publication" and should be accompanied by a summary curriculum and an address for future contact.
  8. 8. The INCM will inform the author in writing, within a period of between three to six months depending on the complexity of the work, about whether or not their publication proposal has been accepted, and shall notify them of the foreseeable publication date, established based on the creation and the priorities of the publishing plan.
  9. 9. The originals submitted for analysis will not be returned.
