Guilherme d’Oliveira Martins presents O Mistério da Estrada de Sintra (The Mystery of the Sintra Road)

The critical edition of O Mistério da Estrada de Sintra - Cartas ao Diário de Notícias(The Mystery of the Sintra Road - Letters to Diário de Notícias), by Eça de Queirós and Ramalho Ortigão, with the text edited by Ana Luísa Vilela, was presented to the public yesterday at the Imprensa Nacional Library by Guilherme d’Oliveira Martins.
The text by Eça de Queirós and Ramalho Ortigão is, according to Carlos Reis, coordinator of the Critical Edition of the Works of Eça de Queirós, “one of the most courageous provocations seen in the history of our literature”.
The most recent volume of the Critical Edition of the Works of Eça de Queirós, prepared by Ana Luísa Vilela, presents two different approaches: the introduction, including the contextualisation of the work, and the critical text.
