On 21 April in the Noble Hall of the Viseu City Hall, a coin dedicated to "Viriato" was presented, part of the 10th Ibero-American series on the subject of "Cultural Roots".

The ceremony was attended by the President of the Viseu Municipality, António Almeida Henriques, the councillor for culture, Odete Maria Paiva, and Rodrigo Lucena, executive member of the board of INCM.

The coin, created by sculptor Espiga Pinto, pays homage to the figure of Viriato, leader of the Lusitanians against Roman invasions on the Iberian Peninsula in the middle of the 2nd century BC. With a face value of 7.50 euros, this coin is a limited issue of 5,000 copies in silver with proof finishing and 75,000 in cupronickel with normal finishing.
