December 4, 2015
The INCM and Electronic Official Journal (Diário da República Eletrónico) websites have been judged by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FST) as being among the top 10 in terms of best web accessibility practices, identified in the 2015 edition of the "Central Government Web Accessibility" study conducted by the FST's Information Society Department.
Users were taken into consideration by INCM during the development of the two websites, to ensure the implementation of best practices in terms of accessibility, performance, functionality and quality.
When producing both websites, efforts were made to overcome the range of conditioning factors and difficulties that could possibly restrict full and complete access to the different functionalities, by implementing accessibility best practices and guidelines (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and guaranteeing access to content W3C WAI-AA (WCAG 2.0) - AA or Priority 2 compliance level.
Web accessibility is the responsibility of the FST, the mission of which is to coordinate public Information Society policies in Portugal. In this sector, it has developed the Web Accessibility Observatory to cover directories from a range of different sectors, specifically the government sector.
